I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 11/12/2015 from NY 11207, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

11/17/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Carnation came in as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Carnation was jumpy, loose and wiggly, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Carnation came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, she was friendly, jumpy and playful towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Carnation was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Carnation was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Carnation appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Carnation engages in rough, pushy play and will become frustrated if another dog does not pay attention to her and bark in their face.

When off leash with other dogs, Carnation greets politely and is tolerant of mounting. She will attempt to solicit play, sometimes by using her paws and will engage in play briefly with the helper dog. 11/14 update: Carnation greets politely and may become pushy when attempting to solicit play. She will engage in rough, running play with playful males. 11/15 update: Carnation greets appropriately and engages in rough play using body slams and paw slaps. 11/16 update: Carnation engages in rough, pushy play and will become frustrated if another dog does not pay attention to her and bark in their face. 11/17 update: Carnation enages in energetic, rough play with other playful dogs. She uses her paws and can become pushy during play. She is tolerant when another female becomes assertive. 11/18 update: Carnation is social and engages in rough play with males and females. She takes correction well when she becomes too pushy. 11/19 update: Carnation is social and engages in rough, running play with other playful dogs. She offers appropriate correction for pushy behavior.
