06/29/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: There is something about Bonnie’s face. Her pronounced brow bones and hollow cheeks sort of give her the appearance of a wise, older woman. I can’t quite articulate what it is I love about Bonnie’s face, but I can tell you what it is I love about Bonnie! She seemed a little nervous when we first met, but after a few minutes was as happy to be at my side as I hers. She is easy on leash and seems to have housetraining. She loves treats and is more than happy to “sit” for them. She has been calm when we’ve passed dogs on the street, and seems friendly when greeting one through a fence. In her cage she props her paws up on the door and solicits attention, and seems very grateful for having gotten it when I put her back. She is still a little reserved as far as soliciting affection, but when I kneel down and call her over she wags her tail, props her paws on my shoulder, and licks my forehead. This petite sweetheart is looking for someone that will cherish waking up to her darling mug everyday — please come meet her at Brooklyn ACC!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper Dog:A1040246 Bonnie came into the care center as a stray, so we do not have information on her past behaviors in a home setting. At intake Bonnie was reported to be calm and relaxed allowing all handling by a counselor. During SAFER Bonnie was sociable, but became a bit tense for some handling. During the tag interaction Bonnie became easily over aroused and consistently jumped on the assessor, but her body was soft. During the resources portion of the assessment Bonnie was easy to handle when engaged with the food and toy items, and only showed minimal interest in the rawhides. During the dog-dog interaction Bonnie rushed in quickly towards the helper dog, but her body was not stiff and she appeared to be interested in interacting.
