06/27/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
6/27/15 16:52 Basic information: Tommy is a 1 yr. old neutered Vizsla Pointer mix. The Owner got him from a friend as a gift; he has owned Tommy for a few months. The owner surrendered Tommy because the owner can no longer care for him. Tommy was last seen by a vet less than a month ago and has been vaccinated. Socialization: Around strangers Tommy is friendly playful. Tommy has lived with 3 children ages 3, 6, 7, he is relaxed and playful around them and adults and children he does not know. Nemo has lived with a cat, henna was relaxed around him. Tommy has never bitten anyone. Behavior: The owner stats that Tommy is not bothered when some moves his food or treats while he is eating, when someone takes his toys away or when someone disturbs her while sleeping. Tommy likes to be brushed and given bathes but has never had his nails trimmed. When an unfamiliar person or animal approaches a family member or his home he observers them then carefully approaches them. Tommy is very nervous around loud noises such as storms or fireworks. For a new family to know: The owner describes Tommy as friendly, affectionate and playful with a medium activity level. His favorite activity is to play fetch with his owner. In the home Tommy tends to stay in his favorite spot in the house and is kept mainly indoors. Tommy sleeps on a dog bed on the floor of the bedroom. Tommy was fed Pedigree dry and wet dog food three times a day. He is house trained and has never had an accident in the home, when outside he goes to the bathroom on or around grass. Tommy knows the commands “sit “,”shake” and “lay down”. For exercise Tommy is used to brisk walks on the leash and twice a day and pulls on the leash when excited. He has never been off the leash outside the home so the owner does not know how he is off the leash. Behavior during intake: Tommy was relaxed with lose body, when approached by staff Tommy growled at the staff member but allowed slow approach, owner was able to assist us, scanned (+), collared and placing in dog kennel.

A volunteer writes: Surrendered due to “personal problems” we’re told that Tommy is friendly to everyone, is housetrained, knows ‘sit’ and ‘lie down’ and is active and loves to play. Check, check, check and check!! Happy to be out for a walk, this handsome fellow with his long elegant legs went potty as soon as we were out the door, and then showed off nice leash manners as we walked to the park. Gorgeous in his well groomed coat, his tail wags as we walk, he’s calm as we walk past other dogs and lots of school kids picnicking in the park. Seeing a bird stops him in his tracks, but no pulling and we continue on. To enjoys a quick cuddle and a butt scratch, doing the ‘butt scratch shuffle’ which is beyond cute! In group play he’s social and playful having a “rough and rowdy” play style. When our walk was over he jumped right back into his kennel and lay down. Tommy is an impressive, well mannered youngster who’s looking for an active home with people who are ready to love him forever. He’ll certainly return that love tenfold. Ask to meet him today!
06/24/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Storm came to our center as an owner surrender. Owner reports he has lived with children, teenagers, and seniors. It is also reported he gets along well with strangers and other dogs. Storm pulled a bit on leash during his relief walk. He pulled out of assessor’s hands all three Look attempts. Storm displayed high energy in between passes during Sensitivity item. He followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, approaching assessor at end of game and playfully jumping. Storm pulled his paw back at both Squeeze attempts. He lifted his head out of Food dish when assess-a-hand was applied to his cheek. Storm engaged with Toy and Rawhide, keepinga firm grip with a loose, wiggly body. When off leash with other dogs Storm is social and plafyul. He engages in bouncy, rough play. The Behavior Team feels Storm would do well in an Average home that is prepared to give him daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of daily walks, runs, excercise, as well as kongs and nylabones to positively direct his high energy. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, panting, jumping up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash. Squeeze 1 / 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement.
