A volunteer writes: Bertie…………..he won my heart …………so gentle, sweet, unassuming and easy to be with. Surrendered by the only family he’s ever known as they no longer can take care of him, we’re told that he’s been with kids 7 months, 1 year, 10, 11, and 12 and plays gently and respectfully with them, he’s friendly with strangers and all people, plays gently with other dogs, and is crate trained. Bertie was so quiet in his kennel, laying down surveying his new environment. Happy to get up for a walk he went potty outside, and we went for a short walk. He pulls on the leash a bit, but according to his former owner wasn’t walked much so just needs a little practice. We head to the back yard and it seems Bertie may never have seen stairs before as he hesitated and seemed a bit nervous about them, but took courage in hand and conquered his fear. Rock star!!! Bertie is gorgeous in his brindle coat, and his crooked tail lends a mark of distinction (a door was closed on his tail causing it to bend). He comes when I call him, laying his head in my lap for some petting. Low key, gentle and sweet, Bertie is a proven family dog looking for a new family to take care of. We’re rooting for this sweet boy to find his new family…we’re told he loves to play with toys, and likes to be brushed. Bertie is hoping you’ll stop by to meet him today.
