07/22/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Tiny is a really big boy whose large size became an issue for his landlord…Tiny had to go and came right to us at the Manhattan Care Center. Tiny stands right behind his door. He looks puzzled. He does not get it…He had a home and a master just yesterday and now…this…Well, there is food and water around..This is already something…and now, there is a lady in front of me, talking nicely to me and even giving me a treat…Hum…She has a leash..Let’s go with her and try to impress her…Tiny walks well on the leash and voids an ocean as soon as we reach the street. No marking involved. He is likely house trained. He strolls beautifully, nearing other dogs without problem. He has an eye for the pigeons..Why not? Back in the yard, leash free, Tiny explores a little. He seems quite comfortable except for the heat that bothers us both. He has such “good” eyes, lovely and healthy facial folds, nicely cropped ears and a very well groomed coat. He is a bit of a chunky papa although I can not say that he is really overweight. Tiny has been well cared for. He is quite sociable, welcomes staff who come to say hello and enjoys a chin and a butt scratch. He loves food as I expected and will sit for roast beef. Tiny is a young man at three years of age. He is a handsome, friendly, affectionate and rather well mannered family dog who is looking for a new master to charm and a new home to belong to. Tiny , our big little , is dreaming and hoping to be yours very soon…
07/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Tiny pulls hard on the leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Tiny was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He was a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language. Tiny was not interested in toys but took the rawhide with a soft body language. Tiny was surrender to us. His previous owner mentioned to us that Tiny has not gotten to interact with children according to the owner but when he passes them on walks will have soft, wiggly body but does not bark and has not been allowed to interact. When he is with other dogs he is relaxed and will play but when he plays it will be rough and has a history of biting other dogs”.
