Medical Summary Negative MC Intact male BARH Mild to moderate tartar towards back Dog is non weight bearing on right back side, reluctant to walk without assistance, very painful. Cannot flex leg without dog crying out–unsure if hip is luxated or this is a dysplasia (cannot assess gait); no fractures felt distally in limb, dog can withdraw foot, same pain response not illicited from left hind Negative fleas/earmites (activyl) Pyrantel given Consulted on call, gave 100mg rimadyl with food–good appetite, minimal moving of dog for now, weigh in morning

Meet Bear: Bear is a gentle giant who is most likely suffering from hip dysplasia. He needs follow up vet care and a workup with rads and patient group that can work with pain medication response.
RE-EXAM (7/17/15): QAR, Large dog – unwilling to rise, No fractures, painful in hindend most likely d/t hip dysplasia,
A: Large dog -does not rise – Hip dysplasia most likely cause of pain
P: Pain meds Rimadyl and tramadol
NH placement – large dog – won’t rise at this time most likely d/t hip dysplasia. Needs workup with rads and patient group that can work with pain medication response and caring to U?D and cleaning and hand feeding
BEHAVIOR: Bear hasn’t had his Behavior Evaluation yet but his Medical Behavior is Green. He is very limited in his mobility due to the probable hip dysplasia. He was very easy to handle upon intake.
