07/18/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Manny came to us as an owner surrender on 7/15/15. Upon intake it was reported that Manny was calm and relaxed. It was observed that Manny was very hyper and interested in interacting with the assessor when entering the behavior room. While trying to start the assessment Manny did become very mouthy and would mouth the assessor with moderate pressure. After a few minutes he was able to settle down and the assessor was able to run the sensitivity item. Manny became quickly over aroused on the tag test and escalated quickly as well trying to bite the assessor during this item. He proved a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language. Manny took both of the toy and rawhide items with a firm grip, and loose body, but did place his body between the items and the assessor. The behavior department believes that Manny would be best placed with a rescue that can provide the positive behavior modification necessary to control Manny’s high energy to prevent him from escalating. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 5. Dog growls or tries to bite. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body soft. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy 1: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Rawhide: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy or rawhide, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Dog-Dog: When off-leash with other dogs, Manny is energetic, greets politely, and becomes playful.
