06/09/2015 WEB MEMO
A Volunteer writes: Badminton is such a sweetheart! While definitely timid and a bit scared in the shelter environment, once outside she loves to sniff everything and even chase an occasional bird! I know once she finds herself safe and loved in a new home her personality will blossom. Anyone lucky enough to give that to this sweet girl will find themselves a loyal companion and snuggle buddy!
06/04/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Badminton came to our center as a stray on 6/2/2015. She was nervous upon intake and hid from the admissions counselor under the chair. Once coaxed out, she had a somewhat tense body but allowed handling and showed no signs of aggression. Badminton was cautious during Look item, allowing her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands but with somewhat tense body. She slowly moved her body away from assessor during Sensitivity item, ears and tail remained neutral and she accepted the touch as she moved away. Badminton was unresponsive to the assessor during Tag game, following at the end of leash but crouching at a pass. She had tense body during first Squeeze attempt, but did not pull paw back. At second Squeeze attempt, Badminton did not pull paw back but raised her lip. She required pressure to remove her head from the Food dish, and gulped food after the three passes until dish was empty. Badminton had no interest in Toy and minimal interest in Rawhide, sniffing a few times and then turning away. She was nervous with other dogs off leash, but tolerated other dogs interacting with her. The Behavior Team feels due to her nervousness and reaction to Squeeze, Badminton would do best in an Experienced home with no children. She may need time to warm up to her new environment, and may do best in a calm, structured atmosphere. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is cautious and a bit fearful; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog slowly moves body away but accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is neutral, body tense, mouth closed, ears neutral. Tag: 2. Dog is nervous but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is crouching at pass, long lip. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog does not pull paw back, body tense. Squeeze 1: 4. Dog raises lip. Food 2. Dog follows the dish with her tail down, body likely a bit stiff. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. Minimal interest. Dog-to-Dog: When off leash with other dogs, Badminton is nervous and tolerates other dogs interacting with her but does not initiate interaction.
06/04/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR

She will allow greeting but is more interested in exploring her surroundings.
