03/29/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/29/15 20:14 BASIC INFO Arius’s family got him from a friend 4 months ago. His primary owner moved and he’s too strong for his mother to handle. PEOPLE Arius lived with adults. He met children outside. He’s friendly but jumps up on them to say hello. He’s friendly with strangers and hasn’t bit anyone. ANIMALS Arius lived with a 7 year old female Pomeranian. He was relaxed, playful, tolerant, and played somewhat rough with her. The Pomeranian was fearful of him and he attempted to engage in play anyway, so their owner kept them separate most of the time. PERSONALITY Arius’s family describes him as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, excitable, and high activity. He follows his family around. He likes squeaky and stuffed toys and plays fetch and tug. HABITS Arius lived inside and slept on the floor. He ate Evo dry food. He went for brisk walks and pottied anywhere outside. TRAINING Arius is housetrained. He only has accidents when he has an upset stomach/diarrhea. He’s well-behaved when home alone. He does well in a wire crate for 8 hours while he’s home alone every day. He knows sit. MEDICAL Arius has a sensitive stomach and gets diarrhea easily. He has diarrhea now. BEHAVIOR Arius has no known behavior issues. He plays when someone takes his toy and doesn’t mind if they take his food/treat. He doesn’t mind being held or woken up. His owner bathed and brushed him, and his mother didn’t think that Arius gave him any issues, but she isn’t sure exactly how he reacted. He barks when people come to the door but is friendly when strangers enter the home and approach his family. He doesn’t mind storms. INTAKE Arius had loose wiggly body, wagging tail, and open mouth during handling-switching leashes, collar, scan (negative), petting, pictures. He moved around quickly, pulled on his leash, and jumped up on me and the counter. He sat when asked and took treats from me. Sometimes, he lied down on his side by my feet.
04/01/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: When Arius’ primary care giver moved away, another member of the family surrendered Arius to our care for being “too strong”. Arius is a playful, energetic and fun loving boy who will thrive in an active home where exercise and play time happen every day. He’s stunning in his gray and white nicely groomed coat, his tail wags, he shows off his housetraining skills and his ‘sit’ (as advised by his former family), and is affectionate and sweet. His squareish face framed by little fold over ears is expressive and sweet. We’re told that he lived with a 7 year old Pomeranian and wanted to play with her, has been with children although lived with adults, likes toys and his favorite games are fetch and tug. Off leash in the back Arius wagged his tail happily at a play group in an adjoining pen, hoping he could join them but needing to wait his turn. He pounces after a tossed tennis ball doing a little leap in the air as he runs after it…so cute! Giving me exuberant kisses Arius shows off his affectionate side, takes treats gently and knows how to settle down again when its time for more pictures. Nicely taken care of, responsive and respectful, Arius is hoping to find an active family ready to play with him and take him for long walks. Jogging maybe? We’re told he’s friendly to all and he certainly proved that to me and now he’s waiting to prove it to you. Ask to meet him today.
04/01/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Arius pulls hard on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. He was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Arius did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. He took the toy and the rawhide with a soft body language. Arius was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful. Arius is an active dog he need a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experience home. Look: 3.
