A volunteer writes: Lost and found few months ago, handsome Buchanan, now a very young adult was brought back by his owner for what she thought were seizures. We are yet to witness one of them here at the care center. It seems that Buchanan recognized me right away. I always loved this pup and he was quick to rush to his door and lick my hand when he saw me. Tears came to my eyes…My boy…what will happen of you now ? Buchanan is now even more gorgeous than when we parted. Well nourished, healthy looking and even more appearing like a Pharaoh Hound. He is so majestic, royal, elegant, laying with his full length on the ground, his face topped with pointy ears, looking straight at me. He is still the lovely lap dog he was, running toward me, planting his forepaws on my thighs and kissing me galore. He has lost a lot of his shyness, which is great. He still does not like his kennel and loves his walk around the block. Buchanan sits on command, gives paw and comes immediately at the call of his name. Seizures(if indeed he has seizures) are treatable. Buchanan is a wonderful youngster who has a lot to offer besides his beauty. He is sociable, loving and loyal and will make a top of the line forever best friend if he is given a chance. Please, consider him..Buchanan is at the Manhattan Care Center.
08/19/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Albert did well on his SAFER and has generally been soft and social with his handlers. However, he has shown some behaviors that will likely need futher investigation and potential behavior modification. Albert has shown a tendency to lunge at passersby with little warning. He has not connected with any, but the lack of clear warning and the number of triggers he seems to have makes us feel that he is best suited to placement with a New Hope partner who can safely manage and positively modify this behavior. 8/18 SAFER: Albert was excited but very interested in interacting with the assessor jumped up, grabbing at the leash. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Albert did a lot of jumping up and played tug-of-war with the leash during tag interaction. He did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. Albert was easy to handle when chewing on toys and rawhides. He was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful. Albert was surrendered by his owner. He is described as very energetic and playful.
