04/25/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ace came to us as a stray on 4/16/15 so we don’t have any behavior information prior to what is being seen in the shelter. Upon intake it was reported that Ace had loose and calm body language, and allowed all handling. Ace was very interested in interacting with the assessor when entering the behavior room. He was easily handled an allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items while maintaining soft body language. He proved a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language. Ace was also easy to handle when chewing on the toy and rawhide items. The behavior department believes that Ace can go to an average home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. He indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body soft. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the rawhide. Dog-Dog: When off leash with other dogs, Ace is a polite greeter and is playful, bouncy and enjoys play.
