10/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Scar walks calmly on leash. He was stiff and showed some concerns behavior during the squeeze part of the assessment. Scar was a bit tense during Look but allowed his head to be held. He was soft and wiggly during sensitivity, and distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He allowed himself to be positioned for paw squeeze but when the assessor gripped his collar Scar head-flipped toward the assessor’s hand. As his body language throughout the assessment became increasingly uncomfortable while being gently restrained by the collar, the squeeze item was omitted and the assessor moved on to the resource portion. Scar was not interested in food or rawhide but took the toy away with a soft body language. Scar approaches the helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip long. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is stiff; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Food: No interest. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip long or neutral. Helper: A1054601
