11/21/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/21/15 Basic Info Rocky Boa A1058582 is a 2 yr old male black AM PIT BULL TER mix who was surrendered due to living situations. Socialization Rocky Boa was described as being extremely sociable with strangers, often greeting them with a happy wagging tail and tons of kisses. He lived with 3 children ranging ages 5-12 and was said to play with them carefully. The owner stated he would get a bit too excited and jump up on the younger children. Rocky Boa would play with other dogs in the park. He was said to usually be the more dominant of the group considering his size and would be seen leading them all in tag play sessions. Behavior Rocky Boa doesn’t show any signs of food guarding, nor does he mind his human counterparts grabbing his chew toys from him and throwing them enticing a game of fetch. He often enjoyed grooming and didn’t seem to be bothered by it at all. For a New Family to Know Rocky Boa is definitely a friendly dog greeting everyone, friend or stranger with a loose wiggly body with an extremely happy wagging tail. He has a high activity level and enjoys long runs in the park that also helps burn off some of that energy. He enjoys Dry food, preferably pedigree. He does pull hard on the leash and understands commands such as sit, stay and come over. During Intake Rocky Boa greeted staff with a loose wiggly body, fast wagging tail, with open mouth and jumped on me with extreme excitement. He allowed staff to scan (-), collar and photograph him. When walked on the leash to his kennel he pulled hard on his way to the back of the center. When being placed in the kennel he was a bit hesitant but walked in on his own.
11/24/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Having lived with three kids Rocky Boa is understandably confused as to why he’s now with us and not with them. He played carefully with his kids, not minding when they took his toys and enjoyed playing fetch with them. Rocky B was making eyes at me from his kennel, and never being one to resist a handsome face out we went! Rocky peed a flood as soon as we were out the door and I then understood why he looked at me so plaintively from his kennel…he was begging for a walk. Good boy, Rocky B! Showing off nice leash manners we walked to the park, stopping for some pictures when we got there. Gorgeously groomed in his shining deep, deep brown coat, Rocky B wags his tail, makes soft eye contact and sits when asked. We’re told he also knows “stay” and “come over”, liked to play in the dog park and was the leader of the pack. He’s a friendly dog, greeting everyone and a stranger becomes a friend in no time. Indeed, Rocky B and I were friends so quickly. Rocky Boa and I played fetch in the yard and he brings it back for another throw giving me a ‘woof’ if I take too long to throw the ball. In group play he greets others politely, is tolerant of solicitation, and played with a female. Rocky B is active and playful and his ideal home is with an active person or family. He’s looking for long walks/jogs, lots of play time and of course, lots of love. A proven family dog he’s hoping you’ll stop by to meet him today.

Rocky Boa engages in bouts of play with playful female dogs. He has not yet been introduced off leash with a male dog while in our care. It has been observed that Rocky Boa becomes stiff, growls, and eventually becomes reactive when male dogs pass by or he greets them through a barrier. The behavior department recommends Rocky Boa may be placed into a home with a tolerant female dog, pending an adoption interaction. We would advise against placement into a home with a male dog, until his behaviors concerning them can be followed up on. When off leash with other dogs, Rocky Boa greets politely.
