08/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Noble came into the care center as a stray, so we do not have information on his behavior in a home. Upon intake it was noted that Noble was hard to control due to his high energy. When removing Noble from his kennel he becomes fixated on the leash and requires a great deal of intervention to help redirect him from mouthing and tugging on the leash. During SAFER Noble was very social, but occasionally became more interested in his surroundings. He allowed the assessor to conduct all handling items without issue, and was easily distracted by objects in the room during the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment Noble was a bit resistant when pushed out of the food bowl, but his body was soft. He only showed minimal interest for the toy items, and was not interested in the rawhides. Noble appears to be a very social, but can be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. Noble also appears to become fixated on mouthing the leash, and would be best suited for an experienced adopter who is able to provide Noble with leash training. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (needed coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body soft. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog sniffs, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. No interest.
