08/13/15 19:12 Basic information Sasha is aa 1 year old white and brown American pit-bull terrier with no known medical conditions. owners have had Sasha for 1 year and are surrendering because of housing conflicts. Socialization Sasha lived with a child the age of 3 and gets along well with children. Sasha plays gently with children and strangers. Sasha has not lived with any other animals and was not interacted with other dogs. Behavior Sasha is calm and relaxed during storms and fireworks and is very well behaved in the house when left alone. Sasha allows her food bowl to be touched while eating and for treats and toys to be taken away. Sasha isn’t bothered by getting bathes or being brushes. When someone unfamiliar approaches the house Sasha will bark For the new family to know Sasha was described as playful and friendly with a medium activity level. Sasha is mostly house trained but will have an accident when left in the house for an extended period of time without a walk. Sasha enjoys playing with balls and knows the commands sit and paw. Sasha eats both wet and dry food twice a day. Behavior during intake Sasha was quiet during intake and curious to her surroundings. when approached by counselor Sasha became slightly tense and backed away. After a few moments Sasha came up to counselor but was still a little tense. Sasha was fearful of the scanner and tried to smell it but backed away.

Helper Dog:A1047813 Sasha lived with adults and a child the age of 3. The owner stated Sasha gets along well with children, and will play gently with both children and strangers. The owner states Sasha is very well behaved in the house when left alone, and she is mostly house trained, but will have accident when not taken out for a walk for an extended period of time. Sasha allows her food bowl to be touched by her owner while eating and she isn’t bothered when treats and toys are taken away. Sasha was best described by her owner as playful and friendly with a medium activity level. At intake it was noted that Sasha was quiet and curious to her surroundings. When approached by the counselor Sasha became slightly tense and backed away, but after a few moments Sasha came up to counselor but still remained tense. During SAFER Sasha approached the assessor with a loose body and wagging tail, but quickly became stiff and uncomfortable when an attempt was made to collar her and she snapped at the assessor. Due to this behavior no handling items where attempted at this time. During the resources portion of the assessment Sasha only showed minimal interest for all items, and when approaching the helper dog during the dog-dog interaction, Sasha rushed in towards the helper dog with stiff body language. Due to the behavioral concerns seen on SAFER the department recommends placement with a New Hope partner. Food: 1. Minimal interest in food, dog sniffs, then turn away. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog sniffs, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog sniffs then turns away. Dog-dog: 3. Dog approaches the helper dog by rushing in with her tail high, stiff body, head tall, and ears erect.
