12/05/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Stunning! That’s what everyone said about Nickolas as we were out for our walk. His physique is perfect, slender and handsome, his gaze is direct, his tail wags, and his grey coat is a mesh of lots of different grays — all combining into one handsome hunk! He went potty as soon as we were out the door, and then cutely looked up at me for a “good boy” and a good boy treat, both of which he got! Nickolas pulls hard on the leash so a harness and some leash training will help make for a more enjoyable walk on both ends of the leash. He doesn’t mind being tethered for pictures, looks perfectly into the camera (and the treat in my hand), and takes it gently, making cute little chomping sounds as he eats. Nickolas loves treats, and although he mistakes my command of ‘sit’ for ‘stand and lean on me’, he’ll learn everything he needs to know with positive treat reinforcement. He’s a smart boy and will learn quickly. Off leash in a pen he snuggles on my lap, and as I stroke his face and neck his eyes start to close with the relaxation and pleasure of it all. He knows how to savor the moment, and it’s adorable. In group with other dogs, Nickolas briefly plays, responds well to correction, bows and gets bouncy from time to time. Having done well in his behavior assessment, Nickolas is looking for a new bestie and should do well in most homes. Be sure to meet him when you visit.
