09/10/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Midnite came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake Midnite was playful, loose and wiggly, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Midnite came into the assessment room hyper and jumpy, he was playful towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Midnite was easily aroused, vocal and slowly de-escalates during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Midnite bit the assess-a-hand on food and rawhide items and he freezes and growls on toy items. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 3. Dog is easily aroused, vocal and slowly de-escalates. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Food: 5. Dog tries to bite. Toy 1: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Rawhide: 5. Dog attempts to bite. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs Midnite greets politley and will continue to sniff the helper dog but does not engage in play.
