12/04/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
12/04/15 09:58 Leopold was found tethered by the street and was brought to ACC by police. They report that he was friendly when they picked him up, put him in a crate, and brought him to ACC. Leopold had a soft, low body in his crate. He sniffed my hand, took treats gently, and allowed me to put his leash on. He walked out with me and his body became loose. He no longer had a low body and his tail wagged. He maintained this while I scanned (-), collared, positioned him for pictures, picked him up, and put him in a kennel. He often jumped up on us, leaned into us while we pet him, and licked our faces. He sometimes rolled around on his back while we pet him. He didn’t pull on his leash. We kept him with us while we worked and he sat next to us quietly. He ate the food we gave him.
12/07/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: A little man in the making…Leopold, the cutest pup with a big name. Indeed, Leopold was the name of the first King of Belgium, my mother’s country, so I am very partial to this youngster…Leopold, though, is lovable for many other reasons…He is super good looking in his lush chesnut coat, a bit shy, innocent, silly and totally unaware of how to hold himself in a crowd of new people and other dogs…He can be unsure, wary, mouths when he is “pushed” to let me know that I should go slower and loves to be in your arms. He walks quite well on the leash and does his business as soon as we are out in the street. He is curious of other dogs met, even the little ones. The pigeons catch his eye but he is not sure if he should go after them…As you can see, Leopold who has been beautifully cared for, is quite new to this world. He has to be taught almost everything…A tough job but such a rewarding one…At the end of the training, Leopold will really be yours and the perfect fit to your lifestyle. Come and meet Leopold at the Manhattan Care Center and take him home as your forever best friend.
