07/14/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jimmy came into the care center as a stray but stayed with his finder for a day and was reported to be friendly, playful, and very active. It was stated that Jimmy appears to get along with children as well as strangers, and he also appears to be housebroken. When Jimmy was removed from his kennel he was reported to jump on the handler and consistently mouth the leash. During SAFER Jimmy became stiff and snapped at the assessor when being positioned for the “look” item, and was slow to de-escalate needing intervention to redirect the behavior. Due to this behavior and safety concerns no handling items were attempted at this time. During the resources portion of the assessment Jimmy showed no interest in any of the times. Due to the concerns seen on SAFER the department recommends placement with a New Hope partner so the behaviors seen can be more fully explored before adoption into a permanent home. Food: No interest Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: Off leash in playgroup Initially Jimmy is stiff and uncomfortable, seems selective with mates, especially female. Interested in exploring the yard.
