A volunteer writes: And the winner of the “Best Face” award is….drum roll please……GORDON! The crowd goes wild, lots of fist pumps and cheers! Gordon, Gordon, Gordon….the crowd chants. Seriously, does he not have the best face and the best ear to ear grin? He’s soft and schmushy with a stocky build and a gently wagging tail. Gordo, as I affectionately dubbed him, walks nicely on leash, is likely housetrained, posed for pictures like a pro, and takes treats gently. A major sniffer he’s a “stop and smell the roses” kind of a dog, easy and gently as he moseys along. As we pass other dogs he gently wags his tail, and in group he greets politely although at this time doesn’t play when solicited. Off leash he explores the pen with his nose, laps up some water from a squirt bottle and keeps grinning that award winning smile. Gordo is waiting to meet his new person or family to show off his million dollar smile. Meet him today.
11/02/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Gordon pulls a bit on the leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was overexcited during handling, trying to hump the assessors and was hard to position, but showed no aggression. Gordon did a lot of jumping up and body checking while playing tag. He was not interested in toys Gordon showed a low threshold for what appears to be sexual arousal and consistently tried to mount the Assessor during the assessment and was a bit difficult to distract. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 3. Dog responds with his tail high, ears forward, mouth likely closed for at least half of the assessment item, body stiff and body checks the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. No interest. When off leash with other dogs, Gordon greets politely. He displays sexually motivated behavior and attempts to mount the female greeter dog. He does not respond to correction from the other dog. 10/30, 31 update: Gordon is sexually motivated and will not engage in play when solicited.
