11/06/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Felix pulls a bit on the leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. Felix was calm and relaxed during handling. He was calm and relaxed when playing tag with assessor. Felix shows minimal interest on the toy (smell and licks), then turns away. Felix was brought to the care center on a DOH hold after a conflict with another dog. We have minimal information about the bite situation. Felix showed no concerns during his SAFER assessment, so we feel his behavior is appropriate for an adopter with an average amount of experience. However, we advise that he may be uncomfortable around certain dogs so we recommend follow up investigation of this behavior. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, ears relaxed, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy:1. Minimal interest. Dog may smell or lick toy, then turns away. Dog-dog: 2.
