12/08/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Dominio came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Dominio was friendly with loose body posture, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Dominio came into the assessment calm and relaxed, he was friendly, social and attention seeking towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Dominio follows the handler with his body low and fearful during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Dominio was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Dominio can be a bit fearful at times but loves attention and settles close next to the assessor during the whole assessment, Dominio can be mouthy in a playful manner with no pressure. In addition, we recommend that introductions are done slowly, and Dominio be given the opportunity to interact at his own pace, so the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2:2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Dominio greets the helper dog appropriately and engages in soft, bouncy play. He becomes a bit nervous when play begins to intensify in energy.
12/05/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Dominio greets other dogs politely and engages in play with other playful dogs. He can become overwhelmed by exuberant dogs. Based on his behavior during playgroup, the Behavior Department recommends that Dominio can go to a home with both male and female dogs. He seems to do well with both playful and non-playful dogs so any playstyle can be considered. ***Social group greeter dog*** When off leash with other dogs, Dominio greets politely and is a bit unsure at first when play is solicited but does engage briefly in gentle play. 12/7 update: Dominio greets the helper dog appropriately and engages in soft, bouncy play. He becomes a bit nervous when play begins to intensify in energy. 12/8 update: Dominio greets politely and engages in gentle play with a playful female. He is a bit overwhelmed by pushy play. 12/10 update: Dominio greets politely and attempts to solicit play. He may begin vocalizing and become pawsy in his solicitations if the other dog does not engage in play. 12/11- 12/14 update: Dominio greets politely and is respectful of nervous dogs. He attempts to solicit play and engages in brief bouts of play with playful females. He takes correction well. 12/15 update: Dominio greets politely ad engages in gentle, running play with a playful female. He may become vocal while playing. 12/16 update: Dominio greets male and females politely. He becomes a bit overwhelmed when engaging with multiple dogs but will engage in play with other playful dogs.
