12/05/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
12/05/15 15:17 Amaya A1059710 is a young female gray & white American Pitbull Terrier mix who was found wandering a street in the Bronx a little while before being brought into our BXAC. The finder stated Amaya appeared to be fearful when approached but she let them grab hold of her leash and bring her in. Amaya had a low body posture when first approached but when spoken to gently and when a staff member got down to her level she wagged her tail and her body loosened up quite a bit. Amaya allowed to be scanned (-), collared & taken pictures of including positioning her during her photo session. She then climbed onto an admissions counselors lap and enjoyed some hugs & kisses. Amaya walks well on her leash and had to be coaxed into a kennel due to the other dogs in the room barking and making her nervous.
12/08/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Moms are special. They worry about their babies long after they’re grown and gone. Amaya is no exception. She’s clearly been a mom several times so has a lot of pups to worry about. As of this writing she’s anxious and stressed, crying for whatever life was before joining us. Sweet and petite, I wish she could talk in words to tell me her story. Her tail wags when I pet her, and she joins me on the bench for that connection, responding to my stroking her and soft talk. She’s still nonetheless stressed. Amaya used the ‘facilities’ as soon as we were out the door and pulls hard on the leash, which could also be anxiety at this time. She’s a sweetheart, a mom who worries…. it’s her turn now to be pampered, to be the companion she’s meant to be rather than a breeder. Let’s show her the kindness, the love, the warmth that she deserves. If you’re ready to turn this little girl’s world upside down in all the right ways, ask to meet her today.
