I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 10/26/2015 from NY 11373, owner surrender reason stated was TOO BIG.

10/26/15 10:03 Basic information Zoey is an 8 month old black and white Staffshire mix with no known medical conditions. Owner is surrendering because of space difficulty. Socialization Zoey has spent a brief amount of time around children ages 7,5 and 3 and was respectful towards them. Zoey plays gently with children and strangers. Zoey has not been interacted with cats or other dogs. Behavior Zoey was well behaved in doors and is house trained. Zoey isnt bothered when having her food bowl touched or toys and treats taken away. Zoey is shy when approached but will allow to be pet and will start wagging her tail. For the new family to know Zoey was described as playful affectionate and shy with a medium activity level. Zoey enjoys playing with squeaky toys and knows the command sit. For exercise Zoey enjoys brisk walks on the leash. Zoey eats Puppy chow dry food twice a day. When home with Zoey she follows you around seeking attention. Behavior during intake Zoey was shy during intake and stayed between owners legs. When counselor approached Zoey she came forward with a wagging tail and lowered her body. Zoey was very sweet but timid of the scanner. When trying to collar Zoey she was very wiggly and excited. Zoey allowed all handling.

Zoey walks calmly on leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Zoey was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Zoey showed some concerning behavior during toy and/or rawhide tests – stiffening and freezing, but did not escalate to a snap or bite to the assess-a-hand. Zoey was surrender to us. Her previous owners described Zoey as playful affectionate and shy with a medium activity level. Zoey has spent a brief amount of time around children ages 7, 5 and 3 and was respectful towards them. Zoey plays gently with children and strangers. Zoey has not been interacted with cats or other dogs. Zoey isnt bothered when having her food bowl touched or toys and treats taken away”. Zoey show some concerning behavior during the resources item she may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address her possible guarding behavior. The behavior department feels that he would do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. We also recommend a home without children. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) she is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. She uncomfortable with interaction and runs away from interaction from the male greeter. 10/29: Zoey remains uncomfortable with interaction. 10/30 update: Zoey is initally uncomfortable and will run away from interaction. When the other dog stops greeting Zoey will softly approach her to sniff. She is uncomfortable when solicited and when the other dog attempts to engage her in play she offers correction.
