04/10/15 13:08 Dog Name: Zoey Reason for surrender: Personal problem with owner Relationship: Owner had Zoey for 8 months as a gift from a friend. People: Zoey lived with two adults for half her life and the other half with only one male owner. Zoey has never been around children owner stated. Zoey is friendly towards people who approach family member or house. Other Animals: Owner stated Zoey can bark and plug on leash when he see certain dogs. Other times he is relaxed but owner doesn’t trust him around dogs. Owner stated Zoey is curious and tolerant around cats. Personality/Habits: Zoey loves to give kisses and cuddle. Her activity level is high; she likes to play with balls, chew toys, and squeaky toys. She has a habit of chewing on furniture like the couch, leash, and harness. Zoey isn’t bothered when owner touch her food bowl, toys, or treats. She enjoys taking baths and being brushed. She can be hard to restrain owner stated. Zoey likes to follow owner around the house and sleep most of the time when home alone. Zoey doesn’t like vacuum cleaner and loves to sleep on chairs. Owner stated Zoey is playful, excitable, axioms and friendly. Training: Zoey uses the bathroom in and outdoors. When being walked outside Zoey is off a leash because she stays close by owner’s side. When Zoey uses the bathroom indoors on the floor owner stated. She knows commands such as sit, spins (around for food), and give paw. Zoey has never been crate-trained but she doesn’t like being in a cage owner stated. Feeding: Owner stated Zoey can only wet food because he has Mega esophagus. For treats he can only eat wet chicken owner stated. Behavior upon intake: Zoey was alert, curious of sounds and hyper at times. She scanned negative for a microchip and allowed all handling.

A volunteer writes: Zoey earns the best dressed award at the shelter. Her stylish black and white coat and immaculate white glove paws are perfectly accented by the white tip at the end of her tail. Zoey is not only stylish, her manners are impeccable. This beauty seems houstrained, sits pretty, AND gives paw for treats! As I was was walking her back to her kennel, a staff member stopped us and complimented Zoey for “showing so beautifully!” This girl loves everyone, so hurry over to the care center and meet Zoey. You don’t want to miss a chance at being seen out and about with this pretty lady on your arm!

Zoey previously lived with two adults, and the owner stated Zoey has never been around children. She was said to be friendly towards strangers, and is generally relaxed when around other dog, but may bark at them when on walks. She was also reported to be tolerant around cats. The owner stated Zoey has an activity level that is high, and was described as playful, excitable, anxious and friendly. The owner also mentioned that Zoey has a habit of chewing on furniture, the leash, and harness, and she doesn’t like the vacuum cleaner. At intake it was noted that Zoey was alert, and at times excitable, but allowed handling. During SAFER Zoey was sociable, but was easily distracted by her surroundings. She was relaxed for all handling items, and during the tag interaction. Zoey did become a bit stiff during the food item, but she lifted her head form the food bowl after a bit of pressure was pressed against her cheek. She was easy to handle when engaged with the toys and rawhide items, and allowed the assessor to easily remove the items. The behavior department feels Zoey is suitable for an “Average” experienced adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, or low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed or back. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with her tail down, body likely a bit stiff. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 2. Dog takes rawhide away, keeps a firm hold. Her body is between you and the rawhide, and she is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Zoey is a polite greeter with a wagging tail and soft body. She does not appear interested in play after initial meeting

She does not appear interested in play after initial meeting 4/12 Update Zoey engages in a bit of play and will wander the yard with a social male. 4/13 Update Zoey is a polite greeter but is not interested in play and wanders the yard with the other dog. 4/14 Update Zoey continues to be social, tolerant and respectful. 4/15 Update Zoey does well with male dogs and is tolerant and respectful but is uncomfortable when meeting a social female. 4/18 update: Zoey is becoming more comfortable socialzing with other dogs. She has become solicitious but has remained respectful. 4/19 Update Zoey enjoys rough and rowdy play. 4/21 Update Zoey engages in a bit of play but mostly explores the yard with other dogs.
