SAFE 04/13/15 – ZIGGY STAR – A1031857 – MANHATTAN, NY
Safe 4-13-2015 Manhattan
***WONDERFULLY AVERAGE TEMPERAMENT***A volunteer writes: Ziggy Star is waiting at his door, right where it opens, all eyes on me. Those eyes are unreal….They seem to each hold a small aquamarine…His coat is unusual too, thick, longer hair than expected and a pattern reminding me of a collie or a shepie. Ziggy Star is leashed easily and walks quite well in the street, meeting appropriately other dogs. He seems very much house trained and barely marks his territory. He seems at ease going around the block even under the pouring rain. In the yard, he comes when called, sits on command after a few prompts and for treats. He runs after the ball, sometimes catches it but does not retrieve. I think that he needs to know me a little better to show all his qualities and maybe tricks he has up his sleeve. I like to see him running, his ears flapping joyously in the air. Ziggy Star has been beautifully cared for by his former owner who brought him to the precinct for an unknown reason to us. Ziggy Star is all alone now and is hoping to start a new chapter in his life with you as a forever best friend, this time around. Come and meet him soon at the Manhattan Care Center.

Ziggy Star came to us as a stray on 3/31/15, transported by the NYPD. Upon intake Ziggy Star was a bit nervous when being scanned with his tail tucked between his legs, but would approach on his own with a low tail wag. Ziggy Star allowed the assessor to conduct all of the tactile items of the assessment without displaying any signs of aggression. He was a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language. He also, proved easy to handle when chewing on both the toy and rawhide items on this portion of the assessment.
