Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Zhena was difficult to remove from her kennel showing teeth, growling. Once she was removed from her kennel she walks calmly on leash. Zhena was stiff and did not show social behavior during the assessment. Zhena was uncomfortable with handling she makes her body look small by hunching over and getting low to the ground. She holds her tail tucked, and do not let the assessors handle her. During the look Zhena was giving a low growl and exposes her front teeth. We decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources Zhena was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. She does not approach other dog, attempts to exit. According to the medical technician “Zhena was intolerant of handling during the medical exam (tense, growling and tries to bite)”. The behavior department feels that she would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 5. tries to bite. Food: 1. No interest. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog. Turns body to side in relation to other dog, or exits.
