11/06/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/06/15 15:59 Basic Information: Zeus is a 3 year old male pit bull mix. His former owner had him since he was a small puppy. Zeus was hit by a car 3 months ago and has some hip problems. He is described as calm, playful and loyal to his owner. He is also a very good listener. Social Life and Personality: This dog is relaxed and playful around kids. He is normally pretty gentle but he can be a little exuberant from time to time. Zeus is respectful of other dogs but he can be fearful of larger dog. He is also afraid of cats. Zeus is house trained for the most part. He does have accidents in the house about once a month. Zues is used to being kept inside and going for 2-3 walks per day. His former owner says that Zeus has a medium activity level. He likes to play but he really likes to relax and be with his owner. Behavior History: Zeus urinates indoors sometimes. He needs to be taken out a few times a day. Zeus has bitten before. Last month he bit a friend of his former owner. The man was wrestling with the dog. Zeus got scared and ran into his cage. The man ran after him and banged on the cage. Zeus then jumped up and bit him on the chin. He ran back into the cage in fear. He has never bitten another animal. Zeus is not bothered if you touch his food bowl while he is eating or if you take a treat from him. If someone unfamiliar comes close to him or his family he might bark but he really just wants to meet people and make sure they’re okay for his family. For a New Family to Know: Zeus is a very smart boy. He knows lots of commands. He can sit, stay, give high five and “go in your house” or his cage. He loves to play with rope toys and balls. Zeus is a tug-a-war master! He also loves a good game of fetch. Zeus is a civilized man and he will only go potty on the grass. Whenever his owner is home Zeus likes to follow close behind. If he ever is left alone at home he is in his crate. During thunder storms and fireworks Zeus will hide and cry. He is accustomed to dry food to eat and he likes to sleep under his owner’s bed. Behavior during intake: This dog was nervous at the start of the intake process. I had the owner put his collar on. When the owner left the dog became even more nervous. He was growling at the handler. The owner put a muzzle on the dog.

11/10/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper dog: A0961306 Zeus previously lived with 1 adult and has been around children. The owner stated Zeus is relaxed and playful around kids, he is pretty gentle around the children but he can be a little exuberant from time to time. The owner mentioned Zeus is mostly house-trained, has a medium activity level and well behaved when home alone in his crate. It was reported by the owner Zeus previously bit the owner friend on the chin, when the friend was wrestling with Zeus he then got scared and Zeus ran into the cage, the friend went to the cage and banged onto the cage. At intake it was reported Zeus was very nervous, the owner had to place the collar and a muzzle on Zeus because he started to growl at the handler. When attempting to take Zeus out of his kennel he was growling, barking and lunging. When entering the assessment room Zeus tried to bite the handler twice on the leash. Not all handling items were able to be conducted. He displayed no interest in any of the resource items during this portion of the assessment. When on leash for a dog interaction with another dog on leash Zeus approach the helper dog with his tail at spine and body relaxed. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip neutral.
