08/06/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/06/15 12:29HRS Zena is a spayed 7 year old American Pit bull. She has been cared for by her owner for the past 5 years alongside a male dog Pepsi (A1046737) in the home. They are both being surrendered due to their owner’s personal issues that are preventing them from remaining in the home. SOCIAL LIFE & PERSONALITY Zena is described as docile and kind. She is normally found in the home resting in her favorite spot. She has lived with an infant and a 10 year old child in the home. Her owner stated that she played gently with the children; she would lick the baby’s hand and feet whenever she was near the child in the home. Zena also lived with her canine companion Pepsi and they interacted well together. They played together and slept together in the home. When she noticed other dogs outside, she would bark at them and try to approach them. BEHAVIOR Zena is bathed once a month but her owner stated that she enjoys the water. She enjoys being brushed and petted. Zena has to be fed separately from Pepsi because she would steal his food. When she hears visitors at her door, she would bark but approach all visitors with welcoming body language. Zena is accustomed to playing off leash in a dog park at least 3x a week. She is house trained and walked at least 2x a day. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Zena likes playing with balls and squeaky toys and playing tug with Pepsi. She is well behaved when left alone in the home. She knows the command “sit.” She is fed grain free dry dog food 2x a day. She enjoys sleeping at the foot of her owner’s bed. DURING INTAKE Zena was sitting calm near her owner. She allowed the Admissions Counselor to approach her and pet her. She complied when offered a treat and told to sit. She allowed all handling including scanning for a microchip (negative), collaring and taking photos without displaying any negative information.

A volunteer writes: “Docile and kind” are how Zena’s former owners describe her while surrendering her (along with Pepsi) to our care because of a new baby in the house. We’re told that she played gently with the 10 year old child, and would lick the baby’s feet, rests in her favorite spot in the home, is well behaved when home alone, likes baths and being brushed, is housetrained and walked at least 2x per day, and enjoys going to dog parks to play off leash. She is fed separately from her housemate Pepsi as she stole his food! That might explain why she has a gorgeously rounded figure wrapped in a pretty coat and accented with cute little white socks. Her leash manners are good, and she did well walking in tandem with another dog as we returned to the building from the park. Posing for pictures like a pro, she sat before being asked to, and it’s clear she loves treats. She seems to like other dogs and may need some time to adjust to a new dog, as she has lived with Pepsi all this time, and slept together with him, or at the foot of her person’s bed. Off leash in a pen she lay down froggy style when I sat down to take some notes. She is indeed, as her owner described ‘docile’, calm and gentle, has a soft personality and is a pleasure to be with. With such an excellent family resume, she’s looking for a new family to love and take care of. We’re cheering her on, hoping she’ll find the right one. Come meet her today and see if it’s yours!
