Finder stated that her son saw the dog on his way to his friend’s house and when he left his friend’s house a few hrs later the dog was still tied to the fense. Finder felt bad for the dog and brought him here.

A volunteer writes: WOW!!! Yogi is one big boy!!! Should have brought my riding gear today!!! Yogi definitely is part Great Dane. He is very tall and so handsome!!! That being said he is so friendly and easy to handle even with his big size. He could use a bit of leash training but I was able to manage him fine and really enjoyed having him out for a walk. Yogi is friendly and liked the other dogs he met on his walk. Come to Staten Island ACC and meet Yogi.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Yogi came to our center when a member of the public found him tied to a fence. He was friendly but a bit cautious during intake. Yogi pulled hard on leash for his relief walk. He was social and interactive throughout the entire assessment, allowing all handling. Yogi allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, body soft. Yogi stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, tail down. He followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, body soft, settling easily at end of game. Yogi did not pull back his paw during both Squeeze attempts. he had minimal interest in Food, Toy, Rawhide, sniffing/licking and then walking away, although it is reported by staff that Yogi is very playful with Toys. During off leash time with other dogs, Yogi is friendly and social, very tolerant of others. The Behavior Team feels Yogi would do well in an Average home and make a lovely family pet. He may benefit from obedience classes to learn leash manners. Yogi may also benefit from daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of daily walks, runs, exercise, play, as well as durable toys such as stuffed kongs and nylabones to positively direct his high energy and puppy enthusiasm.
