10/08/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Xhana previously lived with 1 adult and has been exposed to children. The owner reported Xhana is playful with adults and children. The owner also states that Xhana play bows and chases that cat she lives with. The owner mentioned Xhana is crate and house trained, and understand the commands “sit” and “paw”. At intake it was reported Xhana had tense body language with her tail tucked, but she allowed all handling. Due to the possibility of discomfort as a result of the handling, her overall medical condition, and our desire to decrease stress in the care center, the handling items were skipped. During the resources portion of the assessment Xhana was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Due to our inability to fully evaluate her, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can address the medical conditions and then re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-to-dog: Xhana greets politely and will attempt to solicit play but seems conflicted. She will offer appropriate correction for sexually motivated behavior.
10/06/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Xhana was initially nervous but has become more comfortable and will greet politely and attempt to solicit play with some dogs. Based on her behavior during playgroup, the Behavior Department recommends that Xhana can go to a home with both male and female dogs. Xhana seems uncomfortable when dogs are too forward so we recommend she be placed with respectful dogs with a more gentle play style. When off leash with other dogs, Xhana is nervous and seems uncomfortable when the helper dog attempts to greet her. 10/7 update: Xhana greets politely and will attempt to solicit play but seems conflicted. She will offer appropriate correction for sexually motivated behavior. 10/8 update: Xhana is social, greets other dogs politely and attempts to solicit play with some dogs.
