07/31/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Wilson came into the care center as a stray, so we do not have any information on his past behaviors in a home. Upon arrival to the care center it was noted that Wilson had fearful body language but was tolerant of all handling by a counselor. During SAFER Wilson was social and attention seeking. He allowed the assessor to conduct most handling items without issue and was relaxed during the tag interaction, but became uncomfortable with the paw handling and gave a low growl. During the resources portion of the assessment Wilson was not interested in any of the resource items. Due to the behavior displayed during the paw handling item, the department feels Wilson would be best suited for an experienced adopter with no children. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is open for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft Squeeze 1: 4. Dog growls. Flank squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Food: No interest Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs Wilson greets politely. He engages in brief bouts of play but maintains a stiff body throughout the interaction.
