12/04/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Whoopi previously lived with 1 adult, a cat and has been around children of all ages. The owner states Whoopi is relaxed and respectful of the children but if they pull her tail or fur she may snap. The owner mentioned Whoopi lived with a cat and ignore them but if she sees a cat on the streets she will give a chase. The owner describes Whoopi as playful, pushy, excitable, affectionate, shy, mellow, independent, and friendly. It was reported by the owner Whoopi has a medium activity level and well behaved when left home alone. At intake it was reported Whoopi was panting and pacing in the office, her mouth would tense when being petted, she did allow all handling. During SAFER Whoopi came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, she was social towards the assessor but a bit fearful, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Whoopi tried to bite the assessor when attempting to position him on sensitivity item. She displayed no interest in any of the resource items during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 5. Dog tries to bite. Toy: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Whoopi mostly avoids interaction but does sniff the other dog briefly and allows them to sniff her in return before moving away.
