06/02/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Wayne Costlo was brought to the care center as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was noted that he was easily removed him from the carrier and allowed petting but when a counselor made movements around his head he became stiff and growled and snapped. He was also reported to be stiff and difficult to handle during his medical exam. During SAFER Wayne Costlo was relaxed when greeting and licked the assessor’s hands, but when the assessor attempted to tighten his collar Wayne Costlo became stiff and uncomfortable, so to avoid further escalation, no handling items were attempted at this time. During the resources portion of the assessment Wayne was not interested in the food or toys, and when giving a rawhide, Wayne Costlo urinated on the item, but showed no interest when the assessor removed the rawhide. The department recommends placement with a New Hope partner so the behaviors displayed while in the care center can be more fully explored. Food: No interest Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. (Urinates on item then walks away) Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Wayne Costlo is sexually motivated and explores the yard.
