10/08/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Violet previously lived with two adults. The owner stated Violet is playful, respectful and tolerant towards everyone in household, she also lived with another dog and a cat, they were respectful and tolerant towards each other. The owner mentioned Violet has a medium activity level, she is house trained and well behaved when home alone. The owner describes Violet as playful, excitable, affectionate and friendly. It was reported from the owner Violet allows you to take away her food bowl, toys or treats from her mouth with loose body. At intake it was reported Violet was relaxed with loose body posture, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Violet came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Violet joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment on food item Violet allowed her head to be pushed out of the food bowl with a bit of pressure against her cheek, toy item she settle close and will relinquish and on rawhide item she takes away with stiff body language. Due to some concerns on rawhide item with taking away stiff, the behavior department feels it’s best she can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with her tail down, body likely a bit stiff. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Rawhide: 3. Dog takes rawhide away, keeps a firm hold. Her body is stiff.
