04/14/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper Dog:A1028933 Venus came into the Care Center as a stray surrender so her past behavior in a home is unknown, but it was stated that Venus was friendly and playful towards the finder and their 2 children. During SAFER Venus was a bit shy when entering the assessment room, and was a bit tense for some handling, but after a short while her body became loose. She was distracted during the tag interaction, and was easily handled when engaged with the food and toy items and showed no concerning behaviors when removed. She was not interested in the rawhides, and during the dog-dog interaction, Venus was relaxed when greeting the helper dog, but was not playful. Venus is a bit shy during initial introductions, but at her own pace she quickly warms up and become sociable, so the Department feels Venus is suitable for an “Average” experienced adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is down, body a bit tense, mouth closed, lip long, ears back, lip licks. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (needed coaxing to approach.) She is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog quickly pulls back. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push her out. Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip neutral.
