09/09/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/09/15 12:36 BASIC INFO Tyrone’s family got him as a gift when he was a puppy 7 years ago. They surrendered him because they’re living with family members who won’t allow him. SOCIALIZATION Tyrone is friendly/outgoing with strangers. He plays gently with people. He hasn’t spent time with other pets or children. He’s never bit anyone. BEHAVIOR Tyrone occasionally chews furniture when he’s very stressed, but his owners don’t know what triggers the stress. He doesn’t mind storms. He growls when someone takes his food but allows them to take his treats and toys. He may growl when new people touch his face/neck, or when someone tries to pick him up/move him in unfamiliar situations/places. He usually doesn’t mind when his owners move him off furniture, hold/restrain him, or wake him up. He enjoys being bathed and brushed. His nails were trimmed by a groomer. Tyrone is friendly with people who approach his home/family. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Tyrone’s family describes him as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, and high energy. He follows his family around. He likes squeaky toys and plays fetch, chase, and tug. He lived inside and slept on a dog bed or blanket. He ate mostly dry with some wet Beneful and Purina dog food. He loves dog treats. He’s housetrained, potties anywhere outside, and doesn’t have accidents. He’s well-behaved while home alone. He knows sit and stay. He went for slow and brisk walks and pulls lightly on his leash. Off leash, he stays close by his owner. INTAKE Tyrone had a soft body and wagging tail while I pet and began scanning him (+). He took treats nicely. He became tense and began growling at me, so I backed up. He had a soft body while his owner collared him. He allowed us to walk him into a kennel.

Tyrone walks calmly on leash. He was stiff and showed some concerning behavior during the assessment. Tyrone became stiff and uncomfortable showing his front teeth during the paw handling. He did a lot of jumping up and body checking while playing tag. Tyrone showed some concerning behavior during the food bowl test – stiffening and growling, but did not snap at or bite the assess-a-hand. Tyrone was surrender to us. According to his previous owner Tyrone is friendly and outgoing with strangers. He plays gently with people. He hasn’t spent time with other pets or children. Tyrone occasionally chews furniture when he’s stressed, but his owners don’t know what triggers the stress. He doesn’t mind storms. He growls when someone takes his food but allows them to take his treats and toys. He may growl when new people touch his face or neck, or when someone tries to pick him up or move him in unfamiliar places”. Tyrone may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address this food guarding behavior. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
