08/13/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/13/15 08:26 Basic Information Tyga was brought in as an owner surrender, due to owner being unable to keep him where she is currently residing. Owner says she received Tyga as a gift when she lived in Texas, and has had him for the past two months. Owner says as far as she knows Tyga does not have any injuries or health concerns, and when asked what she likes most about him owner chose that he is normally calm, and a good dog. Personality & Behavior Tyga is described as playful, affectionate, and confident with a very-high activity level. Owner says while with her Tyga has not lived with any children or other animals. Tyga is said to be house trained, rarely having accidents and owner says she hasn’t had any issues with Tyga biting anyone or another animal. According to owner, Tyga is unbothered when pulled out of food bowl and friendly when told to get off of furniture. Owner says Tyga does not like baths but will usually just deal with it. When someone unfamiliar approaches, owner says Tyga barks initially but will then become playful and affectionate. For a New Family to Know Owner says Tyga currently knows commands sit, down, and stay. Owner also says Tyga will sit if told “put it down”. Tyga is said to enjoy toy balls, and owner says he has never been crate-trained. When home with owner Tyga usually follows her around, and is also described as well-behaved when left home alone. Owner says Tyga sometimes Tyga becomes nervous and will cry when hearing Thunder and other loud invasive noises. Tyga ate both wet and dry food in the Beneful brand, owner says Tyga slept in the room with her and is unbothered if disturbed while sleeping. Behavior during Intake Tyga was friendly and excited during intake. He immediately played along with staff, and gave affectionate licks to everyone. Tyga would not stay still for more than a moment, but demonstrated his knowledge of sit and stay in exchange for treats. Tyga allowed all handling, and showed no signs of aggression during intake.
08/13/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Affectionate, gentle and just a little bit shy, our mild-mannered Tyga is more pussycat than wildcat! From the moment he walked through the Care Center doors this undernourished hunk showed off his good dog credentials by immediately playing along with staff and giving affectionate licks to everyone he met. His soft, amiable nature makes him ever so easy to love and once you see the stellar job he did on his behavior assessment, it’s a wonder he’s even still waiting for a new home — Tyga is Adoptable with a capital A! Originally given as a ‘gift’ and now surrendered due to housing issues,Tyga’s former owner describes him as playful, affectionate, and confident and says he never guards his possessions, knows commands for sit, down and stay (all nicely demonstrated for me) and is well behaved when left home alone. Other than socializing, Tyga’s number one focus right now is food, no surprise given his underweight condition. What is a surprise are his truly impeccable eating manners. He’s shown zero guarding or food grabbing issues and will sit patiently to wait for a treat from my hand before delicately snuffling it up like the gentleman he is. Leash walking is a breeze and Tyga seems to be both very house trained and very dog-friendly too, greeting other pups large and small with eager curiosity and happy tail wags. I can’t think of a family that wouldn’t be enriched by welcoming home this well-behaved boy so don’t miss out, hurry in to our Manhattan Care Center and prove to Tyga that sometimes nice guys really do finish first!
08/11/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Tiga pulls hard on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. Tiga was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Tiga did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. He took the toy and the rawhide with a soft body language. Tiga rushed in quickly during the dog-dog test, but showed no aggression. Tiga is an active dog he need a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experienced home. Look: 3.
