BASIC INFO
Turito A1028773 is a 5 year old neutered, Shih Tzu Mix. He was adopted from a previous Owner. Owner stated that they had the dog for a couple of years now. The main reason for surrender is that the owner is moving overseas and cannot take with them. Turito does not have any health concerns.
SOCIALIZATION
Turito is shy around strangers because there was an incident in the home surrounding strangers, and since then Turito has trust issues with strangers. Owner stated that he will eventually warm up to you. Turito has not lived with kids and does not like kids. He will try to bite them. He plays gently with adults. He has lived with another Shih Tzu and they loved to play fight with one another. He plays exuberant with other dogs. He has never bitten anyone.
BEHAVIOR
Turito does not have any behavior issues. Once he warms up to you, he is a great dog. During loud noises, he barks. He does allow you to bathe him. He is not bothered if you touch his food bowl, or water bowl. He does growl if you take his squeaky toy away. He has been kept mostly indoors. He sleeps on a doggy bed. He eats Pedigree wet food only, half a can, 3 times a day. He is house broken and goes on cement outside. When left alone, he is well behaved. He listens to the command sit. For exercise he would be taken to a dog park on the leash where he was friendly with the other dogs. He pulls lightly on the leash.
BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE
Turito was a little nervous and looking around during intake.
Behavior:
Turito walks calmly on leash. He was a bit stiff during the look item but then he became sociable toward the rest of the handling of the assessment with his body soft, low wag, open mouth. Turito was calm and relaxed during handling. He was calm and relaxed when playing tag with assessor. Turito was not interested in food, toys or rawhide.
Turito was surrender to us. According to his previous owner he has trust issues with strangers. Owner stated that he will eventually warm up to you. Turito has not lived with kids and does not like kids. He will try to bite them. He plays gently with adults. He has lived with another Shih Tzu and they loved to play fight with one another. He plays exuberant with other dogs. He is not bothered if you touch his food bowl, or water bowl. He does growl if you take his squeaky toy away”. Turito did not show any concern during the behavior assessment but because of his owner profile the behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter. We also recommend a home without children

Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture.
Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor.

Turito was surrender to us. According to his previous owner he is over protective and nobody can get close to him because he would try to bite. Also owner specifically stated that this dog don’t like kids”. We cannot confirm this type of behavior that the owner stated. Turito did not show any concern during the behavior assessment but because of his owner profile the behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction.
