08/25/15 11:06 Basic Information: Tubs is a year old unaltered male pit-bull terrier mix. Owner had him since he was 3 weeks old from a breeder. Owner surrenders him due to personal problems. Social Life and Personality: Tubs lived with one elderly woman and been around children. Owner stated Tub was playful and tolerant towards everyone in the household. Owner stated she doesn’t trust Tub around other dogs because of the way he stares at them. She stated his body language is tense when he sees another big dog but will try to play with small dogs. Tubs lived with a cat and owner stated the cat raised him and he will be affectionate towards the cat at all times. He is mostly indoors and his activity level is very high. Owner describes Tubs as playful, excitable, affectionate and friendly. Behavior Issues: Tubs never bitten or scratched anyone owner stated. He doesn’t resource guard his food, toys, or treats. He is tolerant of taking a bath at first the after a while he wants to get out of the tub. He never had his nails trimmed but was groomed at home with a brush daily. When Tubs approaches unfamiliar people he stares and then sniffs the stranger. For a New Family to Know: Tubs is trained to use the bathroom outdoors. He goes for walks on a leash 2-3 times a day. He knows commands such as sit, down, come here and get down. He likes to play with ropes and balls. Tubs never been crate trained but has been chained up and whines majority of the time. He likes to follow owner around the house or be in the same room as her. He eats dry and wet food called Pedigree or Alpo twice a day. Intake Behavior: Upon intake Tub was very anxious and overly excited. He scanned negative for a microchip and allowed all handling.

Tubs previously lived with an elderly woman and have been around children. The owner stated Tubs was playful and tolerant towards everyone in the household. The owner mentioned Tubs lived with a cat and she stated the cat raised him and he will be affectionate towards the cat at all times. The owner describes Tubs as playful, excitable, affectionate and friendly. It was reported by the owner Tubs is house train and has a very high activity level. At intake Tubs was very anxious and overly excited but he allowed all handling. During SAFER Tubs came into the assessment room excitable with high energy, he was friendly, social and playful towards the assessor, look and sensitivity items he had soft body posture with his tail wagging, Tubs was easily aroused during tag-interaction jumping high off the ground and slowly de-escalating. During the resources portion of the assessment Tubs was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Due to some concerns with tubs high energy and being very jumpy, the behavior department feels its best he can go home to an experience adopter with no children. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 3. Dog easily aroused, jumps high off ground and slowly de-escalates and becomes mouthy with no pressure. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Rawhide: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy or rawhide, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Tubs is a bit tense when greeting. He appears sexually motivated and salivates heavily throughout the interaction.

He is tolerant of solicitation but does not engage in play. 9/4 update: Tubs greets politely and is interested but does not engage in play. He may become sexually motivated.
