10/27/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Trey looks like he stepped right out of an L.L. Bean catalog! His chest is ticked like a pointer and his eyes nearly glow in the dark. He is much more than just a pretty face though, Trey is a wonderful dog! He has great leash manners and appears housebroken. He knows “sit” and is treat-motivated. He is energetic and will jump up for attention, but hasn’t been mouthy with me. When I took him in the yard he gravitated right for a stray tennis ball and showed that he’s no stranger to fetch. He has seemed interested and friendly in other dogs we’ve encountered and has been energetic and playful in playgroup. He loves to be petted and is very sweet. He might look like he stepped out of a magazine, but Trey really belongs in a home! He would love to meet you at Brooklyn ACC.
10/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Trey came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Trey was jumping on the counselors with soft body posture, he allowed all the handling. During SAFER Trey came into the assessment calm, he was friendly to the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Trey joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment on food and toy items Trey showed minimal interest and on rawhide item he takes away with stiff body language. Due to some concerns with rawhide item the behavior department feels its best he can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Food: 1. Minimal interest in food, dog licks, then turns away. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Rawhide: 3. Dog takes rawhide away, keeps a firm hold. His body is stiff. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Trey greets the helper dog with a very exhuberant bounce and paw slap. He is a high energy player who remains persistent after he is corrected.
