WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: I’m not sure how he ended up with his name, but I can tell you several ways in which this sweet boy could stop traffic! HIS LOOKS: Even with that patchy coat there’s no denying Traffic’s expressive face, wiggly body, and eye contact that will make you feel like you’re his old friend. HIS MANNERS: He is quiet in his cage, seems very housebroken, eagerly sits for treats, and takes them politely. He is skinny and resourceful, but if he finds something on the street that he mistakes as edible, he will drop it when told. HIS WONDERFUL COMPANY: Traffic is easy on the leash, wags his tail throughout walks, and is constantly looking up with the most infectious smile! He looks like there’s no other place he’d rather be than at the side of his person. He sometimes seems so overjoyed he could burst, and may jump up for petting or seem tempted to play with the leash, but with the gentlest reminder he remains composed. The wonderfulness of his company isn’t limited to humans either, Traffic has been used as a social group helper dog and has been very playful and appropriate with others! HIS SWEET, SWEET DISPLAYS OF AFFECTION AND ATTENTION: When I first met Traffic he amazed me with how he greets every person he meets with love, despite looking like he hasn’t often been on the receiving end of it. He’ll crawl into my lap, lick my hands when I pet him, play bow towards me after cuddling, and seems to want nothing more than to please! So I hope you can see, it is worth braving even the worst rush hour traffic to come see Traffic at Brooklyn ACC! He’ll be so happy to meet you!
09/24/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Traffic came in as a stray, so his part behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Traffic was polite, loose and wiggly, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Traffic came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Traffic was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment on food item Traffic eats faster and does not lift his head when attempting to remove his head out of the food bowl with his body tense but does not escalate, toy and rawhide items he displayed no interest. Traffic appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy, so the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter. Look: 1. Dog leans forward or jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 2.
