A volunteer writes: When you meet Tootsie, could you please tell him I said thank you?! My family and I recently suffered a great loss, and I honestly didn’t feel like going to the shelter today. I decided no more excuses, I had a feeling someone needed me. I walked around the kennels feeling lost and not sure who to take out first. Then I laid eyes on Tootsie. I noticed his distinguished, greying muzzle, his amber eyes pleading with me to take him out. I checked his walking log and sure enough, he was due for a walk. He patiently waited for me to loop him up and off we went. Once outside he quickly relieved himself. Then, seeming to sense I was the one who needed some comfort, gently nudged me over to the cuddle step, where we sat, just enjoying the moment. Time passed, but we didn’t notice. Other volunteers walked by with their pups, pigeons flew overhead, cars came and went. We didn’t care. It was just the two of us. He needed me and I needed him. After awhile, I decided to see if Tootsie knew any tricks. He does, and boy was he eager to show me. Sit, paw, lay down, this guy knows it all. If you’re looking for an easy, smart, loyal, loving companion, Tootsie is your guy. Please tell him I said thank you for making me smile again.
