BASIC INFORMATION:
Tony is a 5 year old nuetered German Shepherd-Rottwielier Mix. He was adopted from ACC when he was just 10 months old. His owner is now sick and is in desperate need to find another home for Tony.
SOCIALIZATION:
Tony is described as an all around friendly dog. He is relaxed and playful around everyone that he meets. He is always gentle when interacting with everyone despite their age. Tony lived with two adult female cats. His prior owner stated that they would share the same living space and co-exsist perfectly. Tony has never lived with any other dogs, but lived next door to his two best friends; a male cocker spaniel and a male Brittany mix. They all loved to hang around each other and they took walks together. Tony would play somewhat rough with the other dogs, but it was the same the other way around.
BEHAVIOR:
Tony is an inside dog only with a mellow personality. He will mostly lay around but would play when engaged. When he does play, he enjoys fetching balls. He does not guard his food bowl while eating from his owners or the other dogs, he does not guard bones or toys from humans or the other dogs either. When left alone he is well behaved and it is rare for him to go to the bathroom inside. He prefers to use the bathroom in the yard on either dirt or cement pavement,
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW:
His owners state that he loves being bathed in the tub with warm and often tries to jumb in the tub when it is not bath time. He allows his family to cut his nails. He will bark when he hears people outside the door, but settles down once he sees who it is. According to his owners he knows sit, down, shake/give paw, lay down, and comes when he is called.
BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE:
Tony was exuberant and very social during intake. He allowed to be rubbed and scanned for microchip (result positive). Tony sat when told by admissions counselor verbally.
