A volunteer writes: ‘Tis the season of gift giving, but an animal is not a gift. A wallet is a gift, a necktie is a gift, a sweater is a gift. Tommy was given to someone as a gift and that person cannot keep him. So, we are ‘gifted’ with this amazingly calm puppy who needs to find a home. He’s gorgeous, friendly, plays gently with children, enjoys playing with balls and chew toys, is housetrained when walked regularly and is well behaved when left home alone. I met Tommy when he was in group playing with two other dogs, and saw how quiet and respectful he was of others. We then walked to the park Tommy showing off his lovely leash manners, and posing for photos very seriously. Calm and well behaved for a puppy he’s gorgeous and quietly friendly. He’s hoping that his gift this season will be a new home with people that will love him forever. Meet him today.
Tommy A1060679 is an 8 month old American Pitbull Terrier Mix. He is being surrendered to the shelter because the Owner cannot keep Tommy in the rented room they are living in. Owner has had the dog for 1 month and he was a gift from a friend. Tommy does not have any health concerns.
Tommy is friendly around strangers. He plays gentle with children. He also plays gentle with adults. He has not lived with any other animal, but gets along well with dogs. Tommy has never bitten anyone.
Tommy does not have any behavior issues. He is not bothereed by loud noises. He is not bothered if you touch his food bowl, water bowl or toy. He does allow you to bathe him, but does struggle a bit. If an unfamiliar approaches the home, he stays quiet.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW
Tommy is best described as friendly, affectionate and playful. He has a high activity level. He loves to play. When home, he follows you around. He enjoys playing with balls and chew toys. He has been kept mostly indoors. He eats Purina Puppy chow dry. He is house trained but will have accidents if not walked in time. When left home alone, he is well behaved. He listens to the command Sit. For exercise he would go on brisk walks on the leash.
BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE
Tommy was trying to play with 3 other dogs in the lobby, had soft, loose, wiggly body. Allowed all handling.
