A volunteer writes:
Toby is such a delicious little chubbster, one part Jack Russell Terrier, one part sausage! He’s hard to miss among the small scruffy dogs, a sleek redhead waiting right at the front of his kennel and clearly longing for a walk. He’s great on leash and may be house trained as he ‘takes a load off’ not long after we step out the door. He knows how to come when called, sit on command and mouths treats very softly from my hand and Toby’s social manners are just as cute as his looks. He greets people quietly but affectionately, nuzzling into my leg for petting before he trots off to explore and when it comes to other dogs he’s tail-waggingly happy to make friends. Though he seems to love them all, his greeting style differs depending on size. Toward fellow little pups he’s respectful and polite, calmly introducing himself with some gentle nose-to-nose sniffing but when it comes to the big boys he barks and postures before approaching his new friend with head held high, satisfied that he’s proven who the big man is around here. In his former home Toby was used to spending time with children from 4 years and up and he was relaxed and playful around them but due to some food guarding issues he would do best in an adult-only home where there won’t be any little hands getting in the way of dinner time. Toby aced his behavior assessment and he’s already neutered so there’s no need to wait, you could be proudly strutting it sausage-style starting today!
