SAFER: AVERAGE HOME
Timon came into the care center as a stray, so we do not have any information on his past behaviors in a home. During SAFER Timon was sociable, and maintained a relaxed body posture with a wagging tail when interacting with the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue, and was relaxed for the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment Timon only showed minimal interest in the food item, but was not interested in the toys or rawhides. Timon appears to be very sociable and has not shown any behavioral concerns while in the care center, so the department feels Timon can be suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience.
Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Food: 1. Minimal interest in food, dog may smell and/or lick, then turns away.
Toy: 1. No interest
Rawhide: 1. No interest.
Dog-dog: Off leash, Timon, greets politely and positively. But doesn’t engage in play. Bit sexually motivated, takes corrections well. Sniffs/explores.
