09/16/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Thorin previously live with adults, children and teenagers. The owner mention Thorin does not get along with children and strangers. The owner mentioned Thorin is house trained, wee-wee pad trained. During SAFER Thorin came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was a bit social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Thorin was easily aroused but quickly de-escalates and did not show no signs of aggression during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Thorin bit the assess-a-hand on food and rawhide items, he showed no interest in the toy item. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 3. Dog gets easily aroused but quickly de-escalates. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Food: 5. Dog tries to bite. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest.
