07/06/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/06/15 13:39 Basic Information Terrence was brought in as a return, due to having territorial issues. He is neutered, and has been with his owner since being adopted from AC&C two months ago. Owner says as far as she knows he doesn’t have any injuries or health concerns, and when asked what she likes most about Terrence owner chose that he is affectionate and sweet. Personality & Behavior Terrence is described as mellow and affectionate with a medium activity level. Owner says he is playful and loving with her Boston terrier she has at home. Owner says Terrence is house-trained, and rarely has accidents. Terrence is kept mostly indoors; owner says he gets yard play daily. Owner says Terrence is playful and friendly, and describes him as a good dog. Owner says Terrence is relaxed if food or treats are touched, and will allow her to remove them both, with no problem. Terrence is said to be friendly when told to get off of furniture, and unbothered if disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know Terrence currently knows commands sit, down, come, and stay. Owner says Terrence likes playing with rope and plastic chew toys. Owner says Terrence was crate trained, and does well with it. When home Terrence is said to usually follow his owner around, and she says he is well-behaved when left alone. Owner says Terrence is sometimes in the yard without supervision, and he is well-behaved. Terrence is said to be unbothered by fireworks, or loud invasive noises. Terrence eats Blue Buffalo both dry and wet food, and sleeps in his own doggy bed next to owner. Behavior during Intake Terrence was initially cautious during intake, but just needed time to warm up. He had a tense body, and would duck away when approached. After a moment Terrence warmed up and came over to me to sniff. After being offered treats Terrence was completely relaxed. Terrence allowed handling, and showed no signs of aggression during intake.
05/01/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: When you pass by Terry’s den he may be frantically trying to get your attention but trust me, this gorgeous boy is a ‘quiet type’ at heart and once outside all he wants is to calmly enjoy the pleasure of your company, sneak in a little play time and softly gobble up lots of delicious treats. And his secret snuggle spot? That would be butt rubs! When I scratch his patootie he does the cutest little dance, stepping his hind legs from side to side in blissful abandon. Terry likes people but he seems to LOVE dogs and his happiest self comes out when fellow pups are around. Everyone from a hefty pittie to the tiniest Chihuahua gets a gentle sniff and a delighted body wiggle and he’s been a good boy in play group too. Out on the street Terry is all about nosing (and tasting) his environment and he walks strongly but responsively on leash, taking care of his business and of course, passing other dogs with keen interest and a perked tail. This lovable redhead has now spent several months at the Care Center but he’s lost none of his initial charm and sweetness and it’s hard to understand how no one has fallen for him yet. Terry’s hoping that soon he’ll find a quiet home and a caring family who’ll give him all the time, love and attention he deserves. He’s waited so long, could you be the one to make his dream come true…today? A Volunteer Writes: Walking log after walking log from both volunteers and employees laud this wonderful guy (“amazing!” “happy chill dog!”), and after spending time with him the only mystery is why there are so many days of such high compliments and he’s still here. Terry is so dear and so sweet; he appears housetrained, and is such a delightful play bower to all he meets we can’t believe no one has yet to take him up on his offer in a forever kind of way. Please, won’t you come play with him and bow yourselves out of here and into your home? He is deserving of all of the praise he is receiving in the shelter, but we’d like him to play (bow) to a bigger audience-the world!
04/10/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
On 1/13/2015 Terry came to us as owner surrendered. According to the owner Terry lived with one adult, gets along with children, but does not like strangers and no known bite history. Terry allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile items of the assessment without displaying any signs of aggression. He proved a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language. He showed no interest in the toy item, but was easy to handle when chewing on the rawhide. The behavior department feels that Terry can go to an average home, but should give him time to adjust and acclimate to his new environment. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1.
