09/11/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Teddy walks calmly on leash. He was not sociable, and was more interested in the surroundings than the handler during the assessment. Teddy becomes extremely frightened during the tag interaction, tail tucked, and at the end of the game he raised his lips. Teddy became stiff and uncomfortable during paw handling (freezing and showing his teeth). He was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail low, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 3. Dog repeatedly turns quickly away when touched, or repeatedly spins toward the touch, and repeatedly tries to exit, Dog may be crouching ,tail is tucked, mouth closed, body stiff Squeeze 1: 5. Dog freezes Food: No interest. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. When off leash with other dogs Teddy allows greeting but is more interested in exploring his surroundings. He will back away when another dog attempts to mount.
